Question:
Is the digital display on my new Black & Decker Model CM4000S coffee maker supposed to be illuminated? It isn't. The instruction sheet uses words like: "illuminates" and "flashes" but the only light on the unit is the ON/OFF button. I can barely read the clock or other words on the display. Thanks.

Answer:Since this is a new item, there isn't much information on it. But I did find a listing of the features of this coffee maker. I couldn't find any mention of illuminates or flashes. It did say it was an LED display, which should be illuminated as that is how they work. The LED is a light emitting diode, so in order to see the display, it would have to be illuminated. If you can see the display, then it is being illuminated. However, if you can barely see it, you should probably return it. It should be easy to read, and well lighted, not dim. As for the flashing, that is probably like when the power goes out and you are seeing flashing numbers to let you know it needs to be set up again.
