A Cherry Coffee Cake is the perfect way to serve up a delicious breakfast, without having to spend hours in the kitchen to make it. Let your family wake up to the wonderful scent of cherries with this treat, and then let them see what makes it such a popular cake when they take their first bite. You are sure to get many thanks any morning you offer slices of this.
This is a popular treat but many consider it an afternoon dessert, rather than something to have at breakfast. It is a surprisingly light selection, however, and can easily be enjoyed as your first meal of the day. Unlike other snacks, the cherry coffee cake is just an old-fashioned food that can be eaten at any time.
If your family is facing a long day, then why not offer them something good to start it on? Kids all having to take dreaded tests? Spouse knowing they have to work ultra late at the office? Then it is up to you to make sure they eat something filling.
That is where the cherry coffee cake comes in. Offer a slice of this in the morning and all the upcoming problems of the day will fade away. It is just that good.
And, despite the light touch of this cake, it gives enough substance to last. Your kids will not be hungry just a few hours later and your spouse won't be rushing to the vending machines during mid-morning. You can be sure that this will keep them running for longer than other breakfast foods.
You may wonder if you will even have time to make a cherry coffee cake. After all, mornings are frenetic at your house; everyone is trying to get dressed, gather projects and catch their ride (bus or carpool, it doesn't matter; everyone is still rushing around).
You do have time to make a cherry coffee cake, though. This fast treat only takes thirty five to forty minutes to bake. Add a few more for actually mixing the ingredients and cooling, and you still have something that only takes about an hour. Even with your busy schedule, we are sure that you can spare that little of time.
Wake up and bake this treat while everyone else is getting themselves primed for the day. Then, have everyone gather at the table for a slice of cherry coffee cake. Its warm, rich flavor will calm down even the most hectic of households.
And, when the family has gone, you can easily keep this Cherry Coffee Cake for a late-afternoon snack. Assuming there is any left, of course!
The cherry coffee cake is a simple way to start your morning but it is also a delicious one. Help your family make the most of their mornings with this great cake. They will all appreciate it.
Try this one for a start:
1 cup sour cream 1/4 cup water 3 eggs 1 package white cake mix 1 can cherry pie filling 1/4 cup sliced almonds Glaze 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 2 tablespoons milk 1 teaspoon almond flavoring
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and lightly flour a jelly roll pan (15 x 10 x 1). Important that the pan be 1" deep. Mix together sour cream, water and eggs. Stir in dry cake mix (will be lumpy). Spread mixture into jelly roll pan. Drop cherry pie filling by spoonfuls over batter. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool, then sprinkle with almonds. For the glaze, mix together the 1-1/2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 T. milk, and 1 t. almond flavoring. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
Cereal is a thing of the past, and just grabbing some coffee to go is no longer an issue. Gather everyone at the table for a real meal. You'll all love it, we promise.
